Tell Us the Need, Not Just the Dollar Amount
In our first article, we encouraged Councils and Knights to See the Need.
In our second article, we explored how to Find the Fit.
Now we’re ready for the next step:

Tell the Story
Every year, the Sask K of C Charitable Foundation receives applications from organizations doing important work in communities across Saskatchewan.
The strongest applications share a common characteristic.
They help reviewers clearly understand:

1. the need being addressed;
2. the people who will benefit; and
3. the difference the project will make.

When an organization clearly tells its story, reviewers gain a better understanding of both the opportunity and its potential impact.

Start with the Need
The best applications begin by helping reviewers understand the need.
Ask yourself:

What challenge are we trying to address?
Is a family support program struggling to meet growing demand?
Are young people in your community looking for a safe and supportive environment?
Is a parish ministry trying to reach more people?
Is a community organization responding to food insecurity, illness, isolation, or family hardship?
Help reviewers understand the need first.
Then explain what you hope to accomplish and how Foundation funding can help make it happen.

Tell Us Who Will Benefit
A strong application helps reviewers understand the people being served.
Consider:

1. Who will benefit?
2. How many people will be helped?
3. Why is this important in your community?
4. What difference will success make?

The clearer the picture, the easier it is for reviewers to understand the value of the project.

Explain the Impact
Foundation funding is about making a difference.
Tell us:

1. What will happen if the project moves forward?
2. What improvements do you hope to see?
3. How will individuals, families, parishes, or communities benefit?

You don’t need complicated statistics.
You simply need to help reviewers understand the positive impact the project will have.

Remember: You Know the Story Best
No one understands your organization, ministry, or project better than you do.
Your application is an opportunity to help reviewers understand both the need and the impact your project can have.
The strongest applications are often those that clearly and honestly explain a real need and a practical solution.

Identify an opportunity.

Find the Fit.
Determine whether it aligns with the Foundation’s charitable mission.

Tell the Story.
Explain the need, the people who will benefit, and the impact you hope to achieve.
